Tow Bar advice.

Hi, I am picking up our first caravn this weekend. I have had a swan neck tow bar fiited to the car. I have been informed that all the paint needs to be removed from the tow ball. Is this the case, the caravan is fiited with an alko AKS3004 hitch. Thanks.
