Car insurance and breakdown cover

Just a quick couple of questions from someone new to caravanning.  Do I need to notify my car insurer if I tow a caravan.  When asked about modifications to my car I told them about the tow bar, but they said that wasn't classified as a modification.  Just
wasn't sure if towing itself need to be informed.  And secondly, I have AA Silver breakdown cover.  Just can't seem to find out whether they would assist if the caravan got a flat tyre rather than the car itself.  I'm guessing I would need specific cover from
a specialist, but not certain.
