I ordered a mifi device from Amazon last night and decided to take advantage of their 30 day free trial of Prime.

The device is suposed to arrive today - pretty good!

Also watched a film on Prime ("Live, Die, Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow" with Tom Cruise) - also pretty good.

Will have to have a proper look at what else they offer.

You can cancel before the 30 days is up, so costs you nothing. Recommended (so far!)

I signed up for the free trial and found it so useful that I kept it going.  I use Amazon music quite a bit - similar to Spotify but works out cheaper.  There's quite a lot of cloud storage as well.  I can't see a reason to cancel at the moment

Do you have to pay for the music?

You can add friends or family to Prime for free - but they only get the next day delivery etc. Not the films.

I keep toying with the idea of PRIME and getting a Fire TV stick.  Do not listen to much music prefer the radio but when abroad do use the ipod/phone so if you can download the music rather than have to stream it then may be OK for us.  MrsT likes a film, personally dont have enough time but if it keeps her quiet it may be £79 well spent for a years peace and quiet!!

The Huawei E5330 3G unlocked version.

I'm planning to buy a 3 sim to take to France, but will look out for prices of sims in other countries.

Any idea which is best / cheapest in France?

Thanks Ian, sorry have not got any idea, we ahve always just relied on finding free wifi hot spots (cafe's etc) but we are on BT mobile and they do an add on 300mb for £10 valid for 30 days which seems reasonable to use the web fro browsing and get email
    etc.

hi, i had free Spotify with my last phone contract....its ok for streaming directly and the choice is large, but i wanted to 'download' some old albums using it....not possible.

i the end, i didnt bother as the free period (6 mths) expired.

i guess its the same with Prime?

Don't know if you have BT broadband at home, but if you do, BT mobile offer a sim only deal of 500 mins, unlimited texts and 2gb of data for £10 a month. (£15 if you don't have a broadband contract.)

But £10/month is £120/year.....every year.......even when you don't use it much.

The mifi arrived at 18:30 this evening.......25 hours after ordering.

Should I complain that this is more than 'one day' delivery?

My BT phone is tied in with my Broadband deal (BT) and costs me nothing other than the £10 per month, no matter where I downoad, watch or call from. No limits as per broadband deal.

    Not impressed with Prime.

We got the Fire stick mainly so that I could watch every United game last season. But now we're relegated, not any use any more.

Paid the £75 for full Prime to watch films, but honestly, the films are all for kids......and for lots of them, you have to pay extra on top of the £75.

I've cancelled Prime. Could have cancelled immediately and rec'd a partial refund, but have chosen to let the full year run then it will end.

    Cheers

Looking forward to Top Gear or whatever they are calling it and we both Like the next day delivery.

    Then there is Kodi Cool

I guess Prime movies is a bit like NOW TV (basically, Sky Movies). Looks good at first glance, then after the first month you've seen everything that you want to see and little else of interest is added.

How does that work? The use of internet anywhere, I mean?

Presumably you pay for line rental (about £18/month) on top of the £10/month?

Hi IanH, line rental is part of my broadband deal and unlimited home phone set up. Sorry should have said 'within the UK', however one mobile can be tied to the home phone and is therefore unrestricted as to usage. Use this one, tethered to a laptop, to
get Wifi anywhere that a reasonable 3g signal can be got. 4g presumably better still, but I don't know for certain.

Not if you subscribe to Prime, but like their films the range is limited compared to full time subscription services. We've been Prime subscribers for several years, not so much for the postage savings - which if you buy on line a lot, will save money, but
rather more for their next day delivery service.

our annual fee paid by parent bank has saved the extended family pounds in postage-not sure we anticipated that when we took out free introductory offer years ago!

However, if you need a phone for calls / texts anyway,  it is still a good deal, even if you don't use the Internet allowance every month. As redface says there are even better deals available from BT occasionally. My son just haggled unlimited data for
about £10. We managed unlimited calls on ours, rather than the 500 mins. BT use EE, so coverage is reasonable and often seems to fill the gaps missed by 3.

    We have been using Prime for about a year and it has been useful for the price £79 pa. because;

Films are ok not (OK) mainly older titles, quite a few children's films,  (from grand parents perspective). BUT some very weird TV series (Anyone following The Preacher ?)

Free Kindle library, books on loan for a month, also family members can borrow books.

Music, never tried it, nor the Amazon Cloud.

Most useful thing is knowing when deliveries are due, so not having to wait around.  We use Amazon quite a lot, mainly to stop our credit card details being on used ondiffering sites whereonce only purchases are made.

probably used the annual fee in delivery charges.

    Rgds

Oh forgot  Top Gear might appear soon !!
