Every year we take a few holidays in either the Moreton or Broadway sites. Each year we book early due to both sites getting booked up well in advance and because we have had difficulty getting in, especially with weekends being booked. Today I saw in the
Club magazine an article advertising both sites. Why, I wondered do they need to do this when both sites get so booked up, why not advertise less used sites. Out of interest I have just checked the Moreton site and it is not fully booked at all, apart from
the May bank holiday. What has happened? Is this due to the CC higher prices this year?

    Probably.

Broadway last year in June £23, this year £24.80 - an increase of 8%

Could it be that folk are concerned about not being able to use the toilet blocks for an hour in the morning/afternoon? Wink

Don't tempt fate, at least Broadway is still on network! Despite best efforts of HQ!

There is also choice beyond the Cotswolds, lots of sites are alive and kicking! And cheaper!

The CC magazine promotes different areas in each addition so  it's the Cotswolds turn this time, they didn't feature  Bladon Chains or Notgrove which is strange. I find Moreton is a very popular weekend site but often quieter in the week. I never use Broadway,
I can remember the old Broadway village before it became a tourist hotspot but might try it one day!Smile

We love Notgrove Brue, lovely little site. Not used any of others, with exception of Cirencester. Hated it, will never go back, not our type of site. We used to stop and have a wander round Broadway 30 years ago on way to Cornwall, but haven't been for years
and years. Cirencester town is nice, very lovely church.

We used to do the same TtDA......in fact, we stopped there on our honeymoon night on the way to Cornwall 38 years ago......stayed the night at the Broadway Hotel.

We had a little old camper, used to take us three days to Cornwall, first stop Broadway for a look around, staying at Bath. Then onto Plymouth, having meandered all down A46 via A30 and Bristol. Then we hit Cornwall! First trip was before we were man and
wife!Surprised  Honeymoon was other way, Northumberland!

Wonder if Notgrove is going to go the same way as Much Wenlock & Bromyard Downs, and that's why it didn't warrent a mention?

Hope not Nellie! But there's no doubt that recent events are giving one a sense of foreboding about certain sites and their future. We shall be taking a last visit to Much Wenlock at some point this year, and then to Bromyard the year after.  We drove past
a blast from the past a couple of weeks ago, Ladycross Plantation, remember when this was a Club Site?

Another option, a little further out, is Burford.  We enjoyed our visit to Burford, although it is a little remote.

fully agree with that, we had a lovely summer holiday there last year, very well spread out site ( with two two-lane roundabouts no less) with large HS and grass pitches. the grass pitches only get used at weekends - wonder why. They also have service pitches.

Lovely to hear the chimps in the morning and lions at nightSmileSmile

.....Yes!  If I remember correctly, we had a FS pitch at Burford - it was quite close to the entrance..... and the dog walk was on adjacent 'private wide lane'.

Came home today to find the new magazine on the doormat.  I read the Cotswold article with interest, I can certainly second their recommendation regarding the Thai restaurant in Cirencester.  It is superb.

The club does this regularly. Before today they have advertised Rowntree Park which books up more or less when bookings open.

I can vaguely remember it being a club site but I don't think that we ever stayed there. Certainly wouldn't go there now at the prices they are charging.....Low season for us works out at £24:50 on a H/S pitch...Phew

We really do enjoy the small non facilities sites like Bourton on the Water etc. I would like to see the club introduce more of these.
