Going back to this site next week for the first time for about 11 years, i was hoping if someone could tell me what the TV reception is like now as the info on the site is not very clear( i do have directional aerial fitted.status 570) Not that i intend
being in the van much

    Sorry forgot second question is there any reason that i cannot approach from the east that is the A1 north bound onto the A198 at West Barns as that is the way i have gone before but the club directions dont mention this?

    No idea on TV as we don't use one, sorry. We always go in from the East using A198, fantastic drive, very scenic. Dont recall any hazards to think about, although our van isn't large and we tow with a 4x4. Look out for Tantallon Castle, superb! You will
    need a bit of care through North Berwick if you go through town, avoid busy times.

    Thanks fot that TDA i have been that way before just wanted confirmation it was still ok as no mention of it on club site.

    Yellowcraig has easy approaches from both East and West. As said earlier, The A198 is a good road, although North Berwick at rush hour can be a bit slow.

    We never take a tv on holiday so I can't help you about the site's TV signal.

    Quite a while since we have stayed at YC, we use a CL nowadays, so good that K has given you local information. Lovely around East Lothian, so much to see and do. One of our favourite places, and on list for later this year, fingers crossed!

    We were there a couple of years ago and the directions in the sites handbook had changed. Going in we followed the new directions and it wasn't easy. Having driven around the area during our stay it seems that the reason for the change is that they now allow
    on road parking along the short stretch of road by the bowling club in North Berwick which makes the road quite narrow. Having said that I didn't fancy my chances of trying to follow the new directions in reverse, following them going in was bad enough, so
    I came back the old way. I met one car on the narrow bit but didn't really have a problem.

    Stayed at Yellowcraig a few weeks ago when starting our Scotland tour. We had perfect tv (inc HD channels) on our Avtex.

    Enjoy your stay - we certainly did (so did our Labrador, the place is alive with rabbits !)

    Tv reception is fine. We approach from the other side but would worry about coming through North Berwick on your proposed route. Granted there is only one tricky bit so doable.

    There is nothing in the approach through the town that would worry me but it is a bit tight. If it worries you come in from the other side though.

    Our directional area works perfectly there.

    Thanks for all the replies folks much appreciated, i will go the way i thought which is turn off and go past whitekirk etc as have no problem coping with a few narrow streets, also thanks for the info about TV saves me bothering taking my big amplified aerial.

    Have a good time jeff, our dogs always loved it there as well. Early morning walks through pinewoods and dunes, then out onto beach, swim and back for a rest, lovely. Check out the Club's Great Days Out brochure as well, could save you a lot on visits to
    places. Dirleton Castle and its hidden garden is beautiful, dog friendly and great place for a picnic. Seabirds Centre in North Berwick interesting as well, as is Museum of Flight! I think you can use Tesco Club card vouchers for some things as well!Happy

    I'll echo the recommendation about the Museum of Flight. The chance to wander around and on board Concorde is well worth a visit. We also enjoy the walk into North Berwick, just go across the car park turn right across the dunes and across the golf course.
    It's about three miles.
