Pitches and awnings

I wanted to start a new thread with this item as I did not want it lost at the back of other threads on pitching because it throws up an interesting situation. We are all aware of the 6 metre gap required between the walls of adjacent caravans, and the three
metre gap required between a car / awning and the adjacent caravan. However I was looking through another thread on a different forum and a member had contacted the local council, which I believe was Northampton.about these spacings. The view was consistent
in what we know but there was one important addition and I would like to hear the CC view on this.

In the case of an awning that incorporates sleeping accomodation, then the distance between any part of the awning and the adjoining caravan shall not be less  than 6 metres. The awnings shall not face each
other nor touch. I am assuming that as the awning is being used for sleeping accomodation then the legal view is that it is part of the unit and as such the unit has been extended beyond the walls of the caravan.

Food for thought?
