12v tv -which to buy?

Hi all, I have been using the a small 20 in Samsung tv from the bedroom at home since I bought my van last year which has been great but have started taking the dvd player for the kids. Both work fine but with limited sockets and the space of power transformers
etc. It is starting to take over. I would ideally like an integrated tv/dvd unit around 18-19 inches. Not sure which to look at from a quality point of view and also not sure I can justify a 300 spend on an avtex for use of a few weeks a year. Does anyone
have any experiences good or bad or any recommendations? Apologies if this has been posted before but couldn't find anything. Thanks

Our journey with TVs started with a dual voltage black and white ITT 12" set - rarely used. Next came a Tandy 6" colour set, then a Grundig 10", all dual voltage. We then switched to a 14" flat screen, 240v only, Sharp, which came free as a Swift promotion on a new caravan. Finally, in a similar way that we got fed up with the rest and moved to Apple computers, we bought a flat, widescreen, built in DVD and Sat receiver 16" Avtex, which is a delight to tune, displays an exceptional picture, is truly portable and thrifty enough on power to watch the news when off EHU. Whatever you buy in the interim, your journey will end with Avtex one day, they are quite simply the best on the market. It's just a pity that they cost more than a supermarket model.

We use a 24inch Toshiba with integrated DVD. Very happy with it so far. At home I have mostly Samsung tv's but couldn't find one with a DVD when I needed to purchase one for the van. Have a look at reviews on
line and places like John Lewis for TV's in your size and price bracket.

We use a dual voltage finlux ,(maybe 19/20") about £120 from ebaby.  No problems with it.  Sound and picture both fine for caravan use.  Has an integrated DVD player.  Had it for 18months no problems.

I got a Meos from an online retailer, wedodigital I think and it is great but maybe not as good as Avtex.  A friend picked up an Avtex on eBay a slightly older model than their current model so a great bargain.

the Cello Traveller range is becoming popular, they blend a very good mix of performance against price.

we have a German branded TV in the lounge and a Cello in the rear bedroom....both 12v.

Most TV's with external transformers work at 12v (look at the sticker on the transformer) so with a little DIY most TV's will work on the 12V from the van.

We use a cheap supermarket TV/DVD in that way.

(though the van is now wired for HDMI from my media cupboard from which I can send Blue Ray or media player output to the front or back of the van.)

We mow have Cello, as BB says reasonably priced and does the job. It has built in freeview, freesat, dvd, USB port (so you can record programmes when out) and it has Eire tv we've been using it gor the past 18mths with no problems.

We use an Avtex on 12v in the caravan & 240v when used daily in the kitchen at home. We even bought the Avtex travelling case for it as this keeps everything together when travelling - that justifies the cost IMHO

We have a Cello (inc sat receiver) and a Kogan (Aussie tv) and both have integrated DVD and I bought a 12v cable for the Kogan and both work well.

The Cello tv we find can tend to be a little 'slow' in responding to the remote but both suit and combined cost less than a Avtex.
