I've posted one or two threads about awnings and thank those who have had the kind courtesy to reply to my questions.

Looking around at what is available, I'm now looking at making my own that meets my needs as I cannot find a manufactured one which does.

My criteria are :

Small, easy to erect

Sun canopy style, not necessarily enclosed

Approx 2.5 m > 3.0m wide

Approx 2.5 m protrusion

Ability to and end pieces if desired

Capable of taking a snow loading without collapsing !!

Hard wearing almost indestructable fabric

Aluminium support legs, not steel

The "almost indestructable" & "snow loading" are because I intend to camp year round including at skiing locations. This pretty much rules out Ripstop as its nowhere near strong enough, so I was planning on using Cuben fibre. This way I can extend the CF over and down past the supporting poles like on a gazebo, down to ground level to help maintain tautness
