The green dividing strip

When on a hardstanding, there is often a grass dividing strip between pitches.

While away recently, a m/h arrived opposite. We noticed that, despite being pitched on the peg (i.e. in the middle of the pitch) and therefore having plenty of space each side of their van, the couple set up their table and chairs on the dividing strip between
them and their neighbour.

It's always been my view that this area is there to provide separation between adjacent campers and is effectively a 'no man's land'.

What do others think?
