Draining water from a tourer
Hello All
OK, so I'm relatively new to caravanning, only got one this year so this'll be my first 'winter' and I've been thinking about all the water in the pipes even after I've 'drained down'
I've seen the details of the "Floe" device but it seems expensive for what it is. So today I 'made my own' -- a Crystal 2 connector unit (£7) a length of hosepipe and an air valve (free when I asked nicely at ATS )
I was surprised though at how much extra water came out of all the pipes !!!!
All told from a sink, shower and basin I got a little over 1.5 litres so I'm glad that isn't trapped in small bore pipes ready to freeze & cause untold damage
Just thought that those of you considering the same but wary on price, a little bit of ingenuity can achieve the same results for a very small outlay
I won't be laying up the caravan for winter, I bought it to use and still plan on going away every 3rd week but I'm glad i've found a way to get rid of all this "extra water" from a drained system !!
Rather than the battery pack compressor shown on the 'floe' video's, I used a digital compressor which shuts off when it reaches 15 psi, only £19 from Machine Mart
I used normal hosepipe and cut it to 8ft - this seems long but once connected outside means that I can run the compressor inside the caravan from the 12 volt outlet, starting & re-starting the compressor easily as required
Hope this post helps others with a similar requirement
