Advertising links???

I've just noticed that certain words on the forum are now highlighted as clickable links. Is this a CC fund raising initiative?
It's not something I like. It's very easy to mouse over the highlighted words and get pop ups obscuring the screen
If it's staying then can anyone recommend a browser where I can switch these links off?
