Premium Bonds - too much coincidence?
Does anyone have premium bonds?
If you do, you will know how remote the chances are of winning the big prizes. There are now two £1million prizes each month.
But if you check the big winners for July you will see that, at the top of the list are the following:
£1million prize 1 - winner is male, lives in West Sussex, bought the winning bond in October 2011 and the winning bond number starts with 185.
£1million prize 2 - winner is female, lives in West Sussex, bought the winning bond in Octobef 2011 and the winning bond number starts with 185.
Conspiracy theory, anyone?

Several times OH and I have won prizes at the same time with Bonds of similar numbers bought at the same time.
Nobody suggested a conspiracy theory each time we won £25 each.

I did get fifty quid last month. First one for absolute yonks. Like others, I dream of the big one so it's no posh new A Class this month.

We have premium bonds OH date back to his birth ?and mine about fifteen years ago. We've never had a sniff . We have relatives who regularly get cheques, usually once a month!
Just realised whilst OH's are old they can't date from birth as he was born before they started .

I agree that it does look strange but, from that area, they've both probably got the maximum holding which is now £50,000 each.
OH and I both have bonds, some bought in large blocks, others bought in small blocks. We both regularly get multiple small wins.

I think, from memory, one had about 48,000 and the other about 4,000....

I have to say good luck to you dougscriv. Nice work if you can get it. Almost anything is better than the banks offer at the mo - likely to get worse
There a few good good rates out there generally for current accounts, have to be a rate tart if premium bonds don't deliver!!!

Well if interest rates goes down to zilch it might be worth an extra punt!
Will wait meantime then, we are still getting at least 3% tax free, at least it is reliable, if not that great!
Were getting 3% on three current accounts plus cash back, and 5% on current account together with 5% on two regular saver accounts. Fee for the accounts but more than offset against the interest/casback. If/when these end I reckon there won't be much out
there so premium bonds could be worth an investment. At least your money is supposed to be available and safe!!!0 -
Just checked and OH has won £125 and I've got £100 this month.

To be honest Ian, I also have the max and OH has slightly less. We were told when we purchased them that we could expect regular wins but some months it's only £25. Little and often will do but a few noughts on the end would be wonderful.

The falling pound is doing wonders for the sterling value of my apartment in Spain. It's an ill wind and all that jazz.
