Calor recall experience.
Last September I was at the Gatwick site and bought a Calor Light off the wardens. I then read about the recalls earlier this year. I checked the cylinder and yes, kt was a recall but no bother I thought, I'm going there again in June so will exchange it
then. Wrong.
The wardens told me they couldn't exchange it because if they did they would lose money but gave me an address of a Calor dealer. When I went there the following day they were closed so thought no bother, I'll get it changed at the other clubs site at Chertsey.
Wrong again.
They told me they don't do the recalls and besides, they believe Calor had stopped doing them. I did point out that my first point of call was Gatwick because they supplied it but they were adamant. In desperation I decided the following day to write the
£28 off and put the recall in for a replacement and pay the full amount. Wrong again.
No, they don't do that, it has to be like for like, an empty for a full and mine was full. At this point I must admit I was starting to lose my cool especially after the warden sought the support of the 'holiday manager' (stupid name). If I had bought a
faulty iPad from Curry's I would take it back to them where I purchased it from, not Apple.
They were having none of it despite my offer of paying yet another £28 but then they gave me the address of a dealer, Shepperton Camping & Leisure.
Off we went and when I asked if they did the recall they said yes and Calor have thousands to come in and the recall won't end until they are all in. He also told me that they supplied the Chertsey site and they should have changed it because they wouldn't
lose money because they are recompensed the full amount. He was totally surprised and said he will have to have words with them. I should also be thankful to the wardens because I got my replacement plus a refill saving myself a fiver on the price charged
by the wardens.
