Issue with dealer
Today I find myself in a very difficult situation. I seem to have fallen through the gaps with customer care with regards to a very popular caravan dealer based in North Wiltshire. IF I told you I had purchased a 2010 caravan that cost £14,000 and had the
following issues :
- The Caravan not being cleaned – simply a wipe / hose down is all that actually took place
- The Grill didn’t work – due to thermal couple being dirty
- The Fridge didn’t work due to filthy grills & jet.
- The toilet flush blocked – due to filthy gel like substance.
- The hot water tank containing sediment / filthy clumps
- The waste pipe from sink – blocked
- Inside the cutlery drawer – filthy black smears
- Inside the fridge – Filthy black smears
- Reassurances that the “extra mastic” around the windows and rain guards was indicative of a caravan of that age
- The window not shutting correctly was due to the shape of the front of the caravan
- The bunk bed unable to be lifted into position, or collapsed again without damaging the side of the caravan.
Oh and all this is after teh Caravan was "Serviced"
Would you be happy to be told that “poor customer care is down to lack of staff” and that “The management wont invest in new staff” as time goes on I find that dealing with this dealer is giving me a bitter taste – and that actually once they have my cash,
that’s all they really care about.
So today I have asked for an update, I took the van over there on Friday and to date they have provided me no update or estimate on completion. Only to be told that they operate a “Saturday to Saturday” policy and its unlikely that I will get the van back
until Saturday – which doesn’t work for me, as I’m due to go on holiday this Thursday. If it had been made clear I would have booked it in for the following week.
What do I do. Do I leave it until Thursday and then collect the van – no matter what? Cancel the holiday? Cut my losses and get another dealer / caravan repair centre to undertake the work?
Im at a loss, and the phone call today just really sent me over the edge.
