Anyone Grow Clematis ?

This is a beaut, it dates way back to the 1600’s. It took me an age & a long trek to find one. It was well worth the effort mind👍🏻. It grows over & within a white rambler(seagull) it has a really convoluted name-impress me with your knowledge, what is it’s name?😊

Rocky, that looks like one my Mum bought me years ago called Josephine, sadly it didn't last long the cold winter wind did for it.
I've got a smashing Montana (didn't buy it as one, wrong label) it a white one and has a wonderful vanilla scent, bit of a thug though so gets chopped every 3 years to about 10".
I've bought a few others this year but not decided yet where they are going, so they are in a pot with an obelisk until I make my mind up. The one up the arch is called i think 'Blue moon' it does well, flowers at end of June and then again (sometimes) at the end of August/September.
Used to have a Tangutica climbing up the side of the house, lovely yellow bells but it is also a bit of a thug so got the chop. Might look for one again as I have more time now a days than when I worked.

Could even be Royal Velvet or Patricia Ann, Most clematis like Hostas look much alike

That’s a beautiful plant Rocky. I’ve got a blue multi petalled one, simply called Multi Blue, but that’s much nicer.

Yes, I think mine is a bit temperamental. Just paid for Mums garden to have a big clear up, so looking to put some nice Clematis in for her now, some nice examples to consider on here.😁

TDA, check out pillu, late spring are doubles, late summer(now) 2nd flush as singles. More bang for your buck👍🏻. Good doers.

I love the Montana range, I have Broughton star around the front entrance. Montana Alba behind the decking. Niobe near the workshop. They just keep giving do Clematis👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

yes I like Montana's but found them very invasive so had to get rid of mine.

I would give M.Broughton Star a go HH, a lot slower growing. And, only £3.99 a plant at Aldi!👍

I've 2 Montana, the pink one is just about ready to open up and the white one is usually a week or 2 later its smells lovely just like vanilla. I've 4 other types can't remember all their names but I know one is a Nelly Moser, it was a favourite of Mum and Dad's.
Just remembered another one is called Blue Moon, its doing very well this year looks like I will get lots of flowers on it.

🤔 That red one looks like a Red Cardinal.....or Rebecca, but I ain’t sure. It’s a very striking colour, look good in a “hot” border👍

We don’t actually grow clematis, but we do have one. This was well established when we bought the house, over 30 years ago, and flowers every May. We’re at 1,000ft and it’s growing in an exposed spot on a west facing wall, so it’s pretty hardy.
Don’t know what it is, but expect it’s something cheap and cheerful!0 -
It’s a Montana, a very big one by the looks😁 Great for fast growth and climbing along walls, over sheds and up into trees.

This was our Montana a couple of weeks ago. It's lost much of its colour now, probably due to lack of rain.

This wind today has just about stripped all the flowers off the Montana, but another one has just come into bloom. Yet again we don't know its name.
