My OH has tried to reclaim her tax on these bonds. Being a non-tax payer she is having problems, she rang HMRC and was told she could not claim tax back until her P60 had been received . Phoning at a later date She was informed that R40 was required and this would be posted to her, after a week we had not received this so I today downloaded one . But on trying to complete there seems to be a lot of irelavent questions.

Anyone else had any problems claiming tax back ?

Like any other company/gov dept, they love to get money from you, but giving you a refund - its like trying to defrost an ice-cube in the antarcticHappy
I've had a driveway put in by using resin, which was nice when first laid, but a crack has developed and have been asking them to come back and see to it - well, their one of many excuses, "since its going to be raining this weekend, we'll come and see then
as we're too busy at the moment" - watch this space

This tax year all interest will he paid GROSS on all accounts. Are you trying to claim tax refund for interest received since 6 April 2016?

MrsH filled in a R40 for last year (2015/16). It seemed very straight forward. Just ignore the irrelevant sections. Took a couple of minutes to complete.

She had a reply confirming that she was due a refund of the amount that we expected.

Mind you, we are still waiting for the money!

Don't qualify for them so couldn't say, sorry.  Was an R40 not completed on issue or didn't she qualify last tax year?

I seem to remember Money Box radio 4 had something about ones that mature this year and that all interest counts in this tax year.  But I could be totally wrong.  They do have transcripts or podcasts of their programmes. Haven't time!e to look now sorry.
Hope you get it sorted but a p60 will be needed.

Hi Bakers,  no these bonds are Government Bonds and where normally you would fill in an Tax Exemption say at your bank. With these you had to apply after the P60 for this year was issued. Unfortunally this is the Government make it awkward so you have
    to wait.

This is the address for all PAYE matters, including sending R40 forms:

Pay As You Earn and Self Assessment

    HM Revenue and Customs

    BX9 1AS

In France at the moment so this is from memory but I am sure it WASN'T the address quoted above. I have a feeling it was a Leicester address. I found the 0300 helpline very helpful if you can hold on long enough to get to speak to someone.

Do bear in mind that it often doesn't matter where you send things to these government departments. Whatever you send gets scanned and delivered electronically to the appropriate department.......hopefully........sometimes........eventually.......

    I found this..........

"People who have employment income, occupational pension income, incapacity benefit, employment support allowance or jobseekers’ allowance should send the completed R40 form to:

    HM Revenue and Customs

    PAYE and Self Assessment

    BX9 1AS

    United Kingdom

All other R40 repayment claims should be sent to:

    HM Revenue and Customs

    Leicester and Northants (Claims)

    Saxon House

    1 Causeway Lane

    Leicester

    LE1 4AA"

    OH sends hers to Leicester
