Trouble shooting the N3000 Thetford Fridge.

Last weekend while setting up our new Olympus with the EDCC Rally I switched on the gas supply (no EHU) and the gas tap on the distribution manifold to the fridge. Next I tried to select gas supply option on the electronic control panel, followed by the level of cold setting but the setting would not 'confirm' or hold, just returning to a continuous flashing display.  This operation, the first time on gas, had gone smoothly on my previous trip. The sparce instruction book merely gave advice to contact the Distributer: on a late Friday afternoon, not much hope (or immediate) help there.

This was only the second time the fridge had been run on gas, I realised the last time I used the  fridge on gas, the bottle had run out of gas at the end of that trip. I had renewed the bottle, so I continued trying the settings hoping I may be able to 'purge' the gas supply. There is no pilot light to observe.  I fired up the gas hob to prove the  supply, all ok there, but still no joy with the fridge.

I then asked Martyn, the Rally Officer, if he had a small generator I could try. Success after Martyn came to the rescue, connected and started his genny, put the 'mains' electric switch on and after selecting 'mains' on  the fridge switch panel, the fridge jumped into action, so no real problem found with the  fridge.

How to get the gas supply to function?  Here I am grateful to Martyn's brainwave.  Locating the switch panel, on hands and knees, he withdrew 3 blade fuses, marked as connected with the fridge.  All fuses were intact so they were all put back.  Eurika! I could now select 'gas', set the level and 'confirm'. They display was steady and so the fridge was back into action!

Answer, hardly a bad connection with a blade fuse, I feel, more likely a complete reset of the system that controls the gas valve allowing the gas to 'fire up'. My gratefull thanks to Martyn for organising a fantanstic weekend at Compton Abbas Airfield and sorting out my electronic control panel to the fridge.

Thetford offer no trouble shooting advice in their manual.

Bailey give no information on their switch panel, battery charger or any wiring diagram.
