In this months Practical Caravan Magazine there is an article about used cars, this one was a Skoda, in which the author said there is a problem with the engine - see below for my e-mail to them.

I have a query for you as a result of the used car test in this month's magazine.

Russ Smith, on page 150, quotes " The 2.0 TDI engines are good, apart from one crucial weakness: the oil pump shaft wears, which causes the engine

and the turbo to run dry of oil, destroying both. .....can be prevented by replacing the pump or having it modified before 50,000 miles.  VW specialists

are well aware of the problem and its cure"

I have a VW Tiguan with a 2.0 TDI engine, which is just approaching the 40,000 mile mark. The above comment re the oil pump is causing me some

concern, as I have just spent over £ 400 having the timing belt and gearbox oil changed as recommended by VW.

Has anyone in the forum had any problems with this "well known problem"??

Should I do naything about it?
