Tow car of the year 2016 maybe a bit premature?

Landrover has instigated a recall on its Discovery and Range Rover sport models regarding the factory fitted detachable tow bar which has in some instances catastrophically failed.  I have a 2013 Discovery 4 model which has only intermittently pulled my
2013 Eldiss Affinity caravan. Given the caravan is 1500kg and the specified towing capacity of the Discovery is 3500kg I was extremely surprised that my Discovery has failed the recall test.  We have not been able to use our caravan since mid August while
we attempt to get repair from Landrover, has anyone else suffered this problem?
