Tyre pressure

We have just fitted Maxxis trailer max CR966 195/70/R14/96n to our Sprite Alpine 2. We are unsure what tyre pressure to put in because it says on them 'max pressure 42psi cold. Our previous tyres were Matador Elite 2, same size and load rating but
had a pressure of 55psi. Can you advise us please?
