OK not a particularly jolly sort of posting but hopefully it will be useful to some. As some of you will know an abdominal aortic aneurysm is a very dangerous condition. The NHS is now offering a screening service for men over 65. (apparently its much rarer in women) For any men in this age group can make a screening appointment by following the details in this link  http://aaa.screening.nhs.uk/  You don't have to arrange it through your own doctor. The screening is usually done near to where you live and an appointment takes about 20 minutes. If your results are normal it is a once only screening. Obviously if more investigation is required you will be referred on. You are given the results at the screening so no waiting. I had mine done today and its all pretty straightforward. The scan is done by ultrasound. I was relieved to be told that my own results were fine.

I will make this sticky for a few weeks so that people get a chance to see it.
