Just a bit of information for anyone with a Freelander 2 who has a `transmission fault' message come up on the dashboard.  This happened to me last week.  The car behaved normally and the message had disappeared when I next started the car.  I booked it
in for a diagnostic check with my (independent) Land Rover garage but had covered around 300 miles without the message reappearing by the time of the check.  The diagnostic check flagged-up `Invalid data from differential contral module rear. Unexpected operation'.
This appears to go back to an incident a couple of weeks ago when a rear wheel briefly spun while taking a hairpin bend on a very steep hill.  It transpired that there is a software fix for this which has now been installed.  If anyone experiences a similar
problem, they might wish to check whether the revised software has been installed on their FL2.
