I own a 2010 Land Rover Freelander which has now covered 34k miles.  At its 3 year service, the dealer felt that the rear transmission was noisy and replaced some parts under warranty.  I had not noticed a noise before the repair but afterwards felt that
there was some noise and roughness, however it was too subtle to convince the dealer that further work was required.  Twelve months on, the noise is more noticeable, although still sounding rather like tyre roar, but Land Rover refuse to accept any further
responsibility, although I understand that it has issued dealers with two bulletins concerning rear transmission noise.  My message is therefore that anyone contemplating buying a new Freelander to keep for more than three years may wish to reconsider and
those considering purchasing a second-hand one should listen very carefully for noise from the rear.  A pity because we otherwise like our Freelander and find it an excellent towing vehicle for our Bailey Olympus.
