I cant believe the beeb has not taken this chance to waste more of the licence payers money after all the cost has never stopped them in the past from squandering the cash.

Apart from losing international cricket coverage, first to C4 and then to non terrestial channels, and selected England RU internationals, amongst others, you need to check your facts

    Yeah right.

I never watched it anyway, the only cooking programme I have watched is The Hairy Bikers and that is mainly for the way they present it.Smile

IMHO the BBC were right not to meet the asking price, they are now talking of limiting the wages of the top presenters, not before time. The number of repeat programmes on BBC1 and 2 is getting out of hand.Undecided

Can't get excited by it.  Did find out this morning that Sky have a 70% stake in the programme and wanted it off the BBC.

Reading the posts on this topic have brought out that the BBC did not drop the programme at all - guess that was this media spin that gets talked about.

Perhaps the beeb will learn a lesson.

Stop trying to be clever and stop funding bbc employees who set up independent companies to make programmes for them as a (legal) tax fiddle

They would then own the programs instead of having to buy them back or compete for them

To be fair, the BBC had its hand forced to use independent producers by the government in the1990s, the then DG John Birt came to a compromise deal to avoid full privatisation

It looks like the concept has been bought but not the people who help to make it fun etc. Not surprising really.

Alleged today that the Hollywood guy was spotted entering the back door of Channel 4 premisis from a blacked out van.

Looks like he is considering joining the Channel 4 version of the baking show and leaving his fellow presenters at the Beeb.

    Not surprised in the least.

Hollywood is a bit of a one trick pony isn't he? Without Bake Off what's he got to fall back on? Whereas Mary Berry is an established cookery "expert" and, love 'em or loathe 'em Mel & Sue can fall back on what they consider to be "humour"! Happy

Nothing wrong with discrimination, Bakeoff is rubbish.

All programmes should be manly and geared towards us men Laughing

If  its  food  for  us  MEN  they  are  baking  then  I  see  no  problems  !

I've just read a report that says BBC are to launch an "alternative" Bake Off programme, with Mary, Mel & Sue and posiibly James Martin hosting?

Just saw the latest news about the proposed BBC Bake Off Alternative. All the usual people except that Hollywood character who, according to a regular viewer, will not be missed in the least.

James Martin is being considered and would make a much better host.

    Smile

Just noticed James Martin mentioned on a post earlier in the thread. Wink

The granny's favourite " the Great British Bakeoff" will no longer be broadcast by the BBC soon.

It is alleged to be going to Channel 4.

Write your comments here... Typical C4 they want their cake & be able to eat it too

Can the BBC have their cake and eat it? Master chef has had many formats over the years so I bet this will be reincarnated in a slightly different guise very sorry!
