Fridge when off site ?

A question
when we get our M/H and stay on site the fridge will be powered by electric ,but when we go off site in to the town for the day ,do you then power the fridge from the onboard battery?,then when you are back on site plug back in to mains
and how long does it last on a 12volt battery?
