A suggestion for the Magazine
(Moved from Forum Feedback)
In January's edition there is an interesting report on the Audi Q3. It goes into fine detail about the Towbar and Electrics £ 625 inc Vat. One thing it neglects to cover is :- Does the 13 pin socket as fitted by VW Audi have the appropriate pins wired for caravan use ie Pins ,9,10,11 and 13. OR is it only wired for standard trailer towing. May I suggest that the CC magazine test of towcars include this information for every car they test. There are some members who have not been aware that some manufacturers do not include full wiring for a caravan in their towbar/electrics installation and those pins have to be wired at an additional cost to the member. Can be as much as an additional £ 200 for which they have not budgeted . As an additional comment it was noticed that this Q3 did not even have a spare wheel and was supplied with a inflation kit only. ( totally useless if the tyre is damaged by more than a small nail ). Should the CC be recommending any vehicle as a towcar which is missing a spare wheel. I would be interested in the club's view on both those points. Best Regards Drew.
