It can be very annoying  when you've been good and listened to the OH's heart desire and then they go out and buy it anyway

Hubby and I are at that age now where we really don't bother with presents for Xmas or birthdays we seem to have what we need or want when we want or need it

! Occasionally if we want something extravagant for the house or decide to buy a new car we will  if we feel slightly guilty after we just say "well that's our joint Xmas birthday and anniversary present for a while " Wink

I try to give out subtle hints, and after all these years my nearest and dearest are good at picking them up. If there is something I really would like and would prefer to pick the model etc myself, then I ask (camera last year). As it's "double do's" for
me (Birthday today), my husband is glad he only has to think of one present. But this year it's a Birthday and Christmas present in one (new speaker system), but I got a Toblerone this morning!

I usually just get some money or a voucher with a box of chocs. Last year he excelled himself, He bought me a Pandora necklace   and I love it. It was such a surprise. This year I've hinted on a Pandora hanging charm to go on it.

Why is it I always associate Toblerone and Chocolate Orange with Christmas??

It looks like the Huskydog has put his paw in it again ,by calling his "wife" the wife ,which is what she is , as in "husband and wife", so ladies , what do we call you ??????

    I'm cofused Sad

'My wife' or 'your wife' sounds much nicer guys.  When you say 'the' - there can be only one!  Happy

If I were to refer to my husband as 'the husband' I think it sounds demeaning.

If your wife is happy to be referred to as 'the wife' then carry on guys but have you ever asked her that question?  Wink

Anyway, I'm happy to receive either Toblerone or a chocolate orange or them fancy chocolate balls wrapped in gold foil.

Meanings do change over time. I ran a business with two other blokes for thirty years but these days I would be reluctant to introduce them as my partners.

My son gets annoyed when I call a female actor an "actress" but to me it is perfectly correct and in no way am I suggesting she is inferior   Undecided

For Christmas this year, I have replaced husband's birthday After Eights. He was quite upset when he found the empty little papers in the box in the cupboard. I only meant to eat one or two... And he's one of these people that can defer gratification, and
just eat chocolates occasionally, which means they just sit there, day after day, week after week, uneaten, taunting...
