The Law for Idiots..
Ive looked but can someone please explain in simple terms, tell me the LAW for towing a large caravan. Here is my issue... I have a twin axle 6 berth with an MTPLM of 1550kg I read everywhere about the 85% rule but looking at a BMW 2.0 diesel tourer yesterday the BMW handbook says maximum towing braked weight of 1660kg, but the kerb weight was only 1510kg. What do I go by.. the manufacturers handbook, which would allow me to tow the caravan with this vehicle or do I have to use another formula? Dont want to break the law but was confident the BMW would do it, as ive seen Mondeo estates towing large caravans. Im an artic lorry driver so please keep it simple lol.
P.S Sorry if this has been explained somewhere, im still finding my way around here. Many Thanks for any help :-)
