Apparently people have cut their fingers on the opened tins while trying to copy the antics in the advert.

    There's no legislation against stupidity.

Apparently the advert suggests you tape over the edge of the open end.

I think they should have to put a warning on the tin about the windy effect the contents can have. Smile

seriously though, some companies do not seem to realise how harmful their adverts can be to their businesses. Here I instance those whose products are rammed down your throat everytime you go online. I make a point of definitely NOT buying those products.
I am sick to death of the invasion of my privacy by those who think that because I look at one item then I wish to spend the rest of the month looking at similar ones.

Google, Microsoft ,et al, have  a lot to answer for.

Write your comments here...Actually remembering the advert is not the point.  If you can't remember the product it's money wasted.

they are clever these advertising folk...John Lewis have history when it comes to shortening their Christmas Adverts as do other companies. First they introduce the whole story then, after a few airs, when most people have watched it and the initial hype
is over, they cut out bits to make the airing costs cheaper.

Methinks Surprised – they should have their medication increased for them, accompanied by a change in prescription.

but the truth is that adverts are designed to appeal to a certain market.  This one is all about "Diversity".

The truth is that adverts are designed to impact on the viewer, positive, shocking, empathy, revulsion  or negative reactions can be equally powerful In the advertising game! If it gets your attention, if it gets us talking it is probably working!

As you all well know, the advert (for moneysupermarket.com) is a blatant parody of flouncing and pouting women who men leer at. Along with generating a huge number of complaints it has a massive international following despite being a U.K. only advert. If
it didn't work it would have been dropped long ago, but it does. If it challenges men's self image as opposed to making them smile at its juxtapositioning of gender stereotypes then maybe they should consider their own insecurities.

Blimey JennyC, your last post took a bit of reading, so early in the morning!

I actually find that advert repulsive,  and as a result I would make a point of not using them.

Personally I loathe the advert but my understanding of it is exactly as you state. Quite nice to see the tables turned .

Adverts are very powerful things, I can still quote the ads from my childhood - best peas went to Farrows really dates you! I really thought Flash cleaned the floor with one wipe of the mop.  So if this stops/balances the images of women it's done its job
to me regardless of the product.

You won't have seen last nights episode of Planet Earth 11, then. A pity, with its exceptional photography and sound, not to mention its captivating interest. We're certainly looking forward to next weeks episode. I've picked up a few tips from Masterchef
    this week, too.

Jenny, Now you really are talking my language, Planet earth 11 must have some of the best photography ever shown on TV.

I used to like Masterchef too, but somehow for me its not as good as it used to be. Personally I think that in struggling to keep it fresh they have somehow spoilt it a little, but thats probably just me.

I periodically attend cookery days/ classes because I'm a happy but keen cook. I recently attended a class run by an ex Masterchef contestant - wonderful. She was so intuitive with flavours, so I'm working through some of her concepts at home. But tonight
I'll be doing tagliatelle carbonara, quite differently from my own method, courtesy of this weeks Masterchef. Good photography is always noticed in this house because my husband is a retired professional photographer, award winning, national TV etc. Nowadays
he's indulging his love for nature as a countryside ranger, but photography is forever there too. I hope that my earlier post didn't spoil your cornflakes. We have mixed feelings about the controversy of moneysupermarket.com's advert too. But it's memorable
and thought provoking, which was probably the aim of the advertiser. A bit like Damian Hirst's sheep in formaldehyde.
