Touring Scotland

Hi all, this is my very first post so hope it's in the right place! My husband and I and our dog are planning on touring Scotland this summer, starting in Northumberland and going up the east coast along the top and possibly down the west coast. This will
be the first time we have spent more than 2 weeks in our van. Any advice on route, CLs to stay at or any tips about long term touring would be appreciated.  We have been caravanning for 15 years and I am retiring in April, hubby retired 6 years ago and we
fully intend to make good use of our 'second home' Thanks. Sue
