Why no lights?
Driving home today from Durham to Derby along the A1, M18 and M1 I was amazed at the number of people driving without lights on or with only feeble side lights. It was raining steadily with an enormous amount of spray from vehicles, especially lorries nmaking
visibility only a few feet at times. Why don't drivers put on their lights? Surely they notice that they can't see very far, especially if they are overtaking an HGV so does it not occur to them that vehicles following might not be able to see them in the
murk and could plough into the back of them. I know technically it could be argued that the vehicle behind was too close if a collision happened but to close to what if the vehicle in front cannot be seen.
What also surprised me was the number of HGVs with no lights on. I thought they would have known better.
