Gas Regulator

On our last weekend away in the van we had the gas regulator fail. The part is still under warranty, so it will be replaced free of charge. The reason for this post is that the regulator has been fitted by the van maker only just above the level of the gas
bottles, and I have read that the higher that the regulator is fitted the better to stop residue coming from the gas bottles into the regulator, if so I will get the new one fitted higher, any thoughts on this.  Thanks.
