Leisure battery charging

My motorhome leisure battery is not charging at the full expected rate and is therefore running out quickly.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

I suspect the battery's either had it or you're putting too much demand on it.

There are too many variables to be able to accurately diagnose the problem remotely but the above is my best guess.

how old is it & has it been left flat a number of times? I have the same problem with the battery in my caravan ... I think mine's beyond saving Frown

Is it an original battery? Some people change their battery for a bigger one or different type without considering whether the charger can cope - like me! My charger takes longer to charge my two bigger batteries.

Also depends on how you are charging - from the mains over several days or on the road - the latter is usually less efficient.

Most likely cause is as Tinwheeler says. Just check you have nothing drining the battery when it is parked up.

If it is in your van it might be the charger that is at fault, not the battery.

Thank you all for your comments.  I realise, now, I need to understand more about the subject before I can ask the question in a more meaningful way. The questions you all posed will give me a steer in this respect.  Thanks again.
