Reserved pitches on club sites

As a club member for some 10 years I was astounded to hear that all the hard standings had been reserved by a rally @ Cirencester last weekend. It is my understanding and I confirmed that the rules state you cannot reserve pitches. It does not say you cannot reserve pitches unless it's for a rally.  I have sought clarification from the club as I find it unacceptable that rules are being broken. It should as it always has been a first come first served Basis. I accept that if you arrive and all the hard standings are in use then you take what is left. Has anyone else come across this double standards by the club.
