Lakes - Best Route?

Hi

I'm staying at the Coniston CC site in a couple of weeks. I'll be travelling north on the M6 taking the A590 towards Barrow.

Looking at the route I'm not sure which road would be best with an outfit, north to Coniston from the A590. There's the A5084 which is the first road or would it be best to go north further along on the A593 from Broughton-in Furness.

Both meet at Torver but from memory the A5084 is quite narrow.

Any help or local knowledge would be much appreciated.
