Is there an adaptor to connect in line when pulling a trailer with a 7 pin socket?

    Yes you can get an adaptor for 13 pin on car to 7 pin trailer road light electrics from places like E-bay or Halfords.

    they are available both ways ie 13 on your car with 7 on tbe trailer  or 7 on tbe car with 13 on the trailer.  Halfords is probably THE most expensive place to buy anything these days.

    My tow bar came with the adapter 13on the car to 7 on a trailer, might you have one too in the boot perhaps from fitting?

    It's worth bearing in mind that the adapter and asso cable will as length and you might have to make sure the cable doesn't drag on the road. Been there done that I once left most of the cable on the A1 and could understand why lorry drivers were flashing
    their lights at me every time I pulled out to overtake

    At papgeno .... I think we're all referring to the single plug/socket that allows a 12N plug to plug into a 13 pin socket ..... no cable involved ;-)

     ...your adapter covers both plugs/sockets rather than just lights :-)

    You got me thinking I haven't used it for ages. I've just dug  it out of the car boot drawer and you're right it doesn't have any cable. Talk about confused.com it's still worth ensuring that your cable dosn't drag on the road though.

    I bought an adaptor but there wasn't the space to actually get it plugged in.  Make sure your socket is easily accessible - I did swap mine at the caravan shop but it was annoying.

    You would think so but the outer bit was too bulky in the confined space close to the bumper.  Second one fitted fine.
