Washing the caravan today, I noticed little stubborn black spots - possibly road tar. What is the best way to remove them without leaving scratch marks?

Try WD40, small squirt on a cloth corner and rub,

there's a plethora of tar removal products at Halford/etc, but EasyT's is probably one of the best

Petrol is great for tar spots, as is white spirit, but they will also strip off any wax coating, I'd wash of the area with 'wash 'n wax' afterwards, then give it a go over with your chosen polish.

I wonder if a dab of hand sanitizer gel would work?  It tends to do things like get rid of biro from clothes.  Warning: I have not tested this
