Hi all. Can anybody comment on the Plymouth Sound CC site please. (We have booked in for three nights).

Plus points - the views, the natural ambiance, the coastal location.
Minus points - access on narrow lanes, distant from the city with poor bus service, no hard standings or facilities,

Great view's over Plymouth Sound, good walk round the coast path to Wembury, can be windy, you will need levelling blocks for a lot of the pitches. But we enjoyed.
Looking to go the other way with St Agnes Beacon.

Lots of roadworks associated with the building of a new 'town' on that side of Plymouth making the traffic jams even worse than usual.
For 3 nights I'd take a chance - try it and see.

TW, can you be a bit more specific as to where the new town is please? We intend skirting Plymstock as opposed to going through it so I am hoping that we miss the road works that you mention.

The new town will lie between the A38 and A379. Roadworks are affecting both those roads at present and some link roads between the two. The biggest problem is traffic tailing back into and from the City especially at peak times. Once in Plymstock it shouldn't
be too bad but it's getting to and from where the problems arise.I assume you will be using the Tamar Bridge and I would follow the signed route towards Kingsbridge rather than trying any short cuts. Above all, choose your travel time wisely. Things change rapidly so what I say now may not be relevant in a few days time.

Frank, St Agnes Becon is 'on the radar' for later on this Summer. It certainly appeals to us.

TW. Thanks for your help. I will be using the bridge and will look on the map for the Kingsbridge option. I don't intend taking and short cuts.

Wise man. Some are very narrow.
I think the site directions take you in from the A379 Kingsbridge road but are probably geared for those travelling from the east - as ever. You'll be fine.
All that serves to remind me why I now live west of the Tamar.

We stayed there last year and it was superb. Lovely views over plymouth sound. All grass and you will need levelling blocks as a lot of pitches are on a slope. No toilet block so cheaper fees. Excellent dog walk. The last mile or so is quite narrow but
not horrendous. We followed the arrival instructions in the handbook without any problems and traffic was not a problem. Ideally you will need a car to get out and about, we hired one whilst we were there. This is one site we would without doubt use again.0 -
We stayed Easter last year and are booked in for two weeks in July. Lovely site with great views over Plymouth Sound, wardens were grea. Yes, it can be windybut a lovely site.

We've stayed there a lot, as others have said the views are great, watching shipping in the Sound is very relaxing! The village is nice with a shop and pub. There is a steep walk down the hill (or short car journey and car park) to the coast with good beaches
and a cafe. The coastal path is lovely towards either Wembury, Noss Mayo etc or in the other direction Plymouth. It's not far from NT Saltram House either or the ferry over the harbour to Plymouth.0 -

No I didn't remove it. I thought I had finally cracked posting photos on CT but it would seem not!!
