Awning waterproofer

My full size awning was letting rain through the bit that has the bead sewn on for connecting to the awning rail, im looking for something to prevent it happening again & wondered if reproofer would do it or if there is a tape i could put on aswell. It was
just letting drips through not pouring in but hopefully it can be easily sorted
