Should all drivers have medicals?

I'm due a medical in March as I drive a hgv, it got me thinking you can pass your car test at 17 then never be checked for eyesight or health unless something happens, maybe not a full medical but does anyone think all drivers should have at least an eye
test every 5 years to keep their license
