Waste of energy on site

i will be at york Beechwood grange from 11th for 4 days. I will have a porch awning and intend to place Xmas lights on the outside....yes...the outside.. Will this be frowned upon by the environmentalists amongst this forum like t the awning heater haters
or will I be ok!
