Hi, we have a Chausson 718 in 3 berth format.  Can anyone help with advise about how the third bed makes up please?  There are no instructions at all and the dealer (not very good) hasn't got a clue how to do it!  Thank you

Doesn't it just drop down from the ceiling? On its website, Chausson refer to a hidden bed which the Brits call a drop down bed. Most of these drop down beds in low profile motorhomes have a motor or two with a switch on the bed or conveniently located so
it can be switched to go up having been used.

I would have thought the manual would tell you but from experience I know such publications can sometimes be more of a hindrance!

Thanks for the reply.  No, I would have noticed that one. Its the three berth version so no drop down bed.  Much lighter and roomier for two and a small mutt.  It's the conversion of the lounge into the third bed we can't sort out.  No manual for this just
    for appliances ect.

By the way - if anyone fancies the Chausson 718 they are excellent,  only problem is the link between the dealer and the manufacturer is really poor! The dealer hadn't a clue about most of the questions we had due to the product being new to them. Outrageous
really, if they're not ready to support the customer they shouldn't have them on their forecourt in my opinion.

    Jack

As we also live in Lancashire and may consider a Chausson model next year it would be useful if you can name the less than helpful dealer. does it begin with a P?Sealed

    Hi Jack.

We bought our caravan from the same site so it sounds as if customer service on the sales side has not improvedSad

have you tried ringing another dealer for advice.  Emm Bee at Bury are Chausson Dealers and I know someone at work who recommends them?

Thanks for the offer and I will be interested to hear your feedback on how you find your new motorhome over the coming month's.

    Enjoy!Laughing

Thanks Steve, not spoken to Em Bee, might be a bit too cheeky!  We bought from the dealer as it's very close to home, the advice we got when looking was to keep it as local as possible.  Begining to wonder now!  As I said cant fault the van for the budget.
It's got the winter and VIP packs and the engine upgrade to the 150 so it goes well too. Overall we got a very good deal, the px price was good so it was a bit of a no brainer to be honest. Cheers. Chris

Ahh I understand. Even if the deal was great though they should still resolve a pretty basic question regard bed set up I reckon....

How can they carry out warranty work satisfactorily if they are unable or cannot be bothered to sort your query? Perhaps an email to senior management may be worthwhile?

Why not try the motorhome fun forum with a question as they have sections for most models including Chausson?

Did you go for the Fiat base rather than the ford then?

Just joined motorhome fun so will try there too. Yes it's on the Fiat chassis. They didn't have any on the transit chasis but to be honest we dont like the look of that anyway.

    Hi Jack

hope you have now sorted the mystery 3rd bed set-up...

i am curious as to how accurate the quoted payload figures are on motorhomes? Is yours plated at 3500kgs with approx 450 payload and have you checked this against yours?

Do you have any heavy extras like awnings, sat dish etc? Basically is 450kg payload sufficient as we would prefer a largish van but would prefer to stay under 3500kgs gross to avoid any potential licence issues when I am 70 in 5 years time?

It's a 3,500 gross whigh gives a payload of around 400kg which is fine for us.  boleroboy gave me some good advice on payloads when I first joined.  Worth taking a look at that thread. Our van is allegedly 3068kg unladen which includes 1 pax and water and
fuel tanks full so I work on 400kg to be safe.  That's not including the awning, bike rack and wife that have to come off that figure. Still leaves enough payload for us, but everyone is different.

    Hi Chris,

just had a look back at the thread. Did you ever check the laden weight at a weighbridge. Don't suppose our mutual dealer offered to take it to a weighbridge for youUndecided

Most of the vans have checked seem to quote between 350-500kg payload with driver/water but I must admit to being a little dubious.
