Disco 3 Automatic v Manual

Hi all

Time is coming that that I must upgrade my Disco 2 which has given me sterling service for many years. I am considering a  Disco 3 prices  dictate it will probably be a 07/08. In conversation with my local Landrover specialist (who I have had good service
from for many years) he has advised me against a manual and in fact said he wouldn't sell me one because of problems with the transmission.His recommendaation was for an automatic. I have driven automatics but never owned one and certainly not towed with one.
Would be grateful for comments from anyone who has owned either. Would point out that looking at the market anything I buy will have 80 to 90000 miles on the clock.
