Where to store caravan when living in London

We live in sourth west London and have just bought a caravan. We cannot store it at home so need a storage facility. I found it very hard to find space in one but managed to secure one in Walton on Thames C&CC but only for the summer. I have called several
CC sites that do storage only to be told they are full with waiting lists (some for years). The C&CC storage for winter is first come first served by postal application form in July. Its very hard to do this each year and get a place where you want (near your
home) and which you can access (some winter storage with no access at all).

As we are new to all this what tips to people have? shall I apply for storage places with both clubs and wait for one to come up? what is the process for CC storage? Anyone tried storage at non-club sites?

Thanks for any replies- really grateful for advice.

We store ours in a storage facility that it nothing to do with either the CC or C&CC.  There are lots in our area.  I suggest you google caravan storage facilities in your area but make sure you get a good one that is accredited.  Ours is a Cassoa Gold Award
facility.  Perhaps if you look on www.cassoa.co.uk you might find some help there.

We store our motorhome on a Cassoa gold  site, we're on our second as the first one changed hands.  It may also be useful to think about your use of the caravan. The people who stored next to us our last site lived in west London but had a boat at Maldon
and used the caravan in conjunction with using the boat. Meant not having to tow acrosss London.  Whatever you decide take your time.

thanks for the tips. I have tried the nearest Cassoa site and it too is full with massive watiing list. People keep caravans there year on year and only a couple a year will drop off the list. We have joined that waiting list along with other CC club lists.
As a newbie I had no idea how hard it is to find all year round storage close by. Nearly impossible. when your travelling with caravan you don't really want an hour detour to pick it up.

One storage place told me that storage places are closing down and selling the land for development as they make a lot more money. They said that has lead to shortages of spaces. That combined with popularity of the caravan means its hard for newbie's to
    find storage places.

    Any more advice gladly recieved...

Sorry to hear you are having difficulty Humphrey. I suppose land is at a premium in London. We are lucky where we live as there is more land available. I hope you find somewhere suitable soon.
