13 pin socket wiring

Had a witter tow bar fitted with new 13 pin socket fitted to a 2014 Ford Mondeo. This was in June and we have towed no problem with it. However today whilst preparing the van for main holiday next Tuesday I noticed when the van was attached to the car with
the engine off the fridge was drawing power. I thought that relay systems in the wiring took care of this. Now I'm worried because next week we have a 6 hour ferry crossing. I have phoned the supplying dealer of the tow bar and he says the fridge on the 13
pin socket is swtiched so it doesn't use battery power when stationary and he suspects the caravan wiring may be at fault. The van is a 2104 Lunar Clubman so I would have thought the wiring loom to the plug and fuse box would be a straight forward wiring job.
Time is running out fast with the Bank Holiday weekend upon us.

I do know that as a last resort I can switch off the fridge for the ferry journey.

Any advice much appreciated.
