A funny story

Was walking through the dining hall when stopped by a group of kids,’ hey sir, look at tom’s watch he made it himself’ not sure where this was going to/coming from I just said yes very nice, just like the real thing. A few yards on stopped again and sir, look in Dick’s bag he’s made a clock at home, again just a non-comital answer, then stopped again with I made a watch in technology this morning can I go home?
By this time I was sure there was something up and low and behold see here. A 14 year old student in an American school brought in a clock he had made at home to show his teacher. Naturally the school thought it was a bomb, police called in, interviewed him, student sent home for 3 days! Did I mention his last name was Mohamed, not that it would have been any different if his name was Smith I imagine
Police spokesman James McLellan said that, throughout the interview, Ahmed had maintained that he built only a clock, but said the boy was unable to give a "broader explanation" as to what it would be used for
A broader use beyond telling the time?
PS the lesson before lunch on Wednesday is tutor time where they had been discussing E&D
