Fridge efficiency

It might seem a little strange that I am thinking about our caravan fridge at this time of the year, but nobody ever accused me of being mainstream.

I just happened across a site today where the author is suggesting that our absorption fridges are not very efficient because of a lack of airflow through the vents at the back of the installation. He said that he gets much better performance now that he
has removed a small vent cover somewhere near to the top of the fridge exhaust with his screwdriver. He has also suggested that fitting a thermostatically controlled computer type fan to the top external vent does wonders.

I wonder if anyone has any views on this man’s suggestions.
