Central locking on Elddis Aspire 255

My mate has an Aspire 255 and the central locking on the habitation door keeps letting him down. It's because the wire from the door frame to the door has snapped but it's too tight to put a join in without trying to get some more wire out of the door. Has
anyone had the same problem?  How did you sort it?

If we could get the inner skin of the door off we could get to the wire inside but does anyone know how to attempt this? The alternative is to drill a hole behind the bin and get in that way but he doesn't want a hole left in the door skin - even if it's
behind the bin!
