Vacuum moulding
My Avondale has developed a crack around the tap in the kitchen sink. It seems tht nobody is willing to attempt a repair, so I was wondering about having a new one made by vacuum moulding or a similar techique.
Does anybody know of a company able to do this please ?

Gluing a thick nylon washer around the tap ( you will need to make a neat cut in the washer to allow it to slip over the tap) will reinforce the area. What year is the 'van? I have in the past seen an advert for a company who would cast a mould for a shower
tray but you have to send the damaged item to them.0 -
To stop the crack going further drill a tiny hole in sound material just beyond the end of the crack. Washer as above, and one below as well if you can, and some Mitre Bond in the crack and it will live forever.

Our caravan accessories showroom has a variety of kitchen sinks available. Have you had a look in your local dealership to see what there is? Or a caravan breaker. Having one specially made is likely to be expensive, I would have thought.

I understand the reasoning of drilling the hole as per Navigateur's suggestion, but that leaves a hole on show from above. I'd suggest a piece of stainless (because it'd be freely available from a bin at work )
cutting to fit underneath like NIMROD suggested & glueing it to the underside of the sink with Sikaflex/Tigerseal, both of which stick better that the proverbial to a blanket.0 -
Stainless steel is a bit of overkill when an easily cut piece of plywood will do the job - as Swift have used to reinforce under our shower mixer. You could follow up on Navagateur's hole suggestion too and conceal it with a tiny bit of silicone sealant.

I have had problems of this type my self, for me the final answer was a company in Preston that makes molds from the original's and makes copies in fiberglass.
If like me you own somthing from Swift then there is a good chance that they all ready have a mold from some other punter and will knock you a new one that is going to last a life time,
I thing the company name is http://www.caravanpanels.com/
and by the way I am a customer with no other connection.
