I haven't read through the whole thread but maybe there are two suggestions to get reimbursed. Firstly, if the family have their van insured, presumably it covers third party liability for the family? Worth enquiring. Secondly, it is amazing what
is covered by home insurance. I was once parking my small car outside our house and accidentally knocked over our neighbour's motorbike which fell and the brake handle broke. When we looked at our policy document this was covered by my house insurance
rather than my car insurance. Hope this is helpful.0 -
Hasn't the parent of the child offered to pay for the damage to the car so why all this talk of insurance and taking the child to court etc ( for pity sake).
People are assuming that the parents will simply drive off or challenge the claim by the OP.
Aahh - the magic 5 mph rule that no ones sticks too especially the old dears in their motorhomes racing to a loch side pitch at Bunree or a short cut from the MH service point !!

I have not read through all the posts, but I am not surprised this has happened. We were at Clumber a few weeks ago and kids were everywhere on bikes cycling round pitches and going extremely fast. I asked one young boy who was about 10 years old to keep
away from my van, he replied f**k off....what can you say to that!0 -

It was at least 2 weeks ago so has he seen the colour of the offending child's parent's cash?

I agree, Ian. It is frustrating when you ask someone a straightforward question in a thread and they choose to simply ignore it, isn't it?

On a point made earlier about CC sites being private land. -- Those who pay to use the Caravan Club facilities on that land must have protection from those who behave in an antisocial way. This is the responsibility of the CC.
Who is the on-site CC representative, who must ensure that the site is a safe and secure environment ??. The site warden of course.
When antisocial activities are taking place and on-site rules are being broken, the warden should be down on the offenders like a ton of bricks.
Turning a blind eye or ignoring wrong doing does nobody any good. Neither the customer or the CC.

the language coming from the parents caravan and there large collection of guests and empty beer cans and wine bottles suggested I may get the same reply. It was best left and sympathy to the poor child who in my opinion will grow up to be just like his

The offending child's parents have turned out to be selfish no good people who should be banded from the caravan club! After shopping around for the cheapest price the parents turned around and said "we've decided not to give you any money". He admitted
his child was at fault but said he wouldn't pay any money.So to all you that said "a bit over the top getting the police involved" and "why involve the insurance company" this is the exact reason why you should. Because some low life has stung me for being a decent person and trying to do the right thing I'm left
with the bill.Well ive started legal proceedings!

Please let us know the outcome, I for one do not blame you in the least. In similar circumstances when I or a daughter caused damage unintentionally I have left details and stumped up
Write your comments here... thats because you are obviously a decent person who respect others. I will keep everyone posted when things progress but it won't be quick, my solicitor has instructed me to write a letter to them to try and settle the matter
before it progress to full blown legal action.0 -
It will be interesting to see how the claim progresses as it may well set a precedent the CC will have to take note of. Were there independant witnesses?

A letter before action, I believe it's called.
Always the best action to take.......and then if they pay up, call it off, shake hands and walk away. But if they tun out to be scum bags like this, no time is lost in dealing with them.

Hi all. Can anyone give me some advice on my car being damaged on a caravan club site? Basically an 8 year old boy crashed his bike into the side of my car scratching it badly. The site warden filled in an "incident report" but I've been told I can't have
a copy of it? The boy's parents said they would pay for the damage to be rectified. I asked what insurance they would use and the dad said he wasn't sure as it was on private land involving a minor. It didn't fill me with confidence.I have been to the police and have a crime/incident number.

You are lucky the warden filled an incident report anc thd fathervaccepted the blame. Same thing happened to us earlier this year, we heard the father tell the kid off as we walked out the caravan and awning to check the damage and the kid cry it was an
accident. He tgen told him to get in the car, he ignored us got in the car and drove off. We went over to him when he returned and he blatently told us it couldnt of been his son they had been out all day .. he told the warden thd same so nothing was done0 -
Thats absolute disgusting. The parents should be ashamed of themselves. Sadly there are some right #**#**# (naughty word) in this world and some of them are in the caravan club. I hope he feels guilty for life. As for my incident, the parents seemed happy
to pay and agreed to do so but it was only on returning home did they think "lets not bother doing the decent thing and rip this bloke and his family off". I've not got any money from them yet as they are in their "time to respond" period but once that is
up I'm taking them to court.I hope your incident hasn't put you off using your caravan.

It is still his word against yours and given the effort it would mean in taking them to court you would be likely to be the one believed.

I hope people don't think the same applies to my wife and I who will happily consume a couple of bottles of wine and a few beers each evening whilst sat chatting in our awning.

Very poor - shame the site CCTV didnt cover the exit barrier and he could be shown to be telling blatant lies
I hope people don't think the same applies to my wife and I who will happily consume a couple of bottles of wine and a few beers each evening whilst sat chatting in our awning.
As long as you arent loud and disturbing others why would that be a problem to anyone?

I can't believe some of the comments, people wanting to sue children, others wanting kids banned etc, and why, because a kid made a mistake and damaged a car. I understand the op is peeved but that's what you have comprehensive insurance for. Personally
I'd have just told the insurance it happened while I was in the shops and I came back to find it left like that. Mind you some people like drama and being a victim.0
